Training tailored to what motivates your dog most

Obedience training is the foundation for everything else—calm walks, polite greetings, reliable recall, and a dog who can handle distractions with confidence.

I don’t just teach dogs to “listen.” I teach them to understand. Using positive reinforcement and real-world practice, your dog learns to make good choices and think through what’s being asked, not just perform for treats.

My experience working with rescue dogs and my schooling at K9-1 Dog Training taught me how much a dog’s breed, instincts, and genetics shape their behavior. I use that knowledge to tailor every session around what truly motivates your dog—so training feels fun, natural, and rewarding for both of you.

Because obedience isn’t about perfection, it’s about communication, confidence, and enjoying life together.

Training FAQs

  • No! Dogs of any age can learn with positive reinforcement training. Adult dog obedience Chicago training works just as well as puppy training—sometimes even faster since adult dogs have better focus.

  • Absolutely! Training works best when everyone in the home is on the same page. I encourage family members—especially kids—to be part of the process as long as it’s safe and calm for the dog. I’ll show you how to include them in simple ways that build consistency without overwhelming the dog.

If young children are present, I may guide them through short, supervised exercises or ask that an adult handles the main training while kids observe at first. The goal is to make training fun, safe, and clear for everyone involved—two-legged and four-legged.

  • It depends on the dog and how consistent you are with practice. Most dogs show significant improvement within 2-4 weeks of consistent training. Leash pulling dog training Chicago requires daily practice, but the results are worth it.

  • Whether your dog is reactive (barking/lunging) or truly people-aggressive, we’ll work together to make every training session safe and comfortable for your dog.

  • Most clients see progress in 3-6 sessions for basic obedience and leash walking. More complex issues like reactivity or recall may take longer. We'll discuss a customized plan during your consultation!
